A newsroom, and a way into one

PNS News does two things. We report Hyderabad, and we teach people to report it.

People News Service has worked out of Charminar for over a decade, filing on the wards, markets, and districts most desks visit only when something breaks. That proximity is the whole method — you cannot report a neighbourhood you have never stood in. Over the years, graduates started arriving at the office with a degree in one hand and no clips in the other, asking how anyone gets started. We built the training programme to answer that question honestly, and the channel-setup service for the ones who wanted to run their own platform rather than wait for a vacancy.

Where our graduates went

I came in with a mass-comm degree and no clips. Twelve weeks later I had a byline file and an interview that went somewhere.

PNS helped me name the channel, build the studio, and plan the first ninety days of bulletins. I stopped guessing.

The broadcast track put a camera in my hands on day two. The showreel from it got me hired.
